At this year’s Semicon trade show, Samsung Electronics’ chip division confirmed that the appetite for memory chips is not only staying high for the rest of the year but is set to extend well into 2027. The company’s chief technology officer highlighted that artificial intelligence is a major driver behind this sustained demand.
Song Jai‑hyuk, who oversees the chip division’s technology strategy, noted that customer feedback on the company’s next‑generation high‑bandwidth memory chip, the HBM4, has been “very satisfactory.” The chip’s performance, he added, aligns closely with the needs of AI workloads and other data‑intensive applications.
These comments underscore a broader trend in the semiconductor market: as AI and machine learning continue to grow, the need for faster, more efficient memory solutions remains strong. Samsung’s optimistic outlook reflects confidence that its advanced memory offerings will keep pace with this momentum through the coming years.
