Trump Says Board of Peace Members Pledged More Than $5 Billion

Former President Donald Trump announced that the founding member countries of his “Board of Peace” have pledged more than $5 billion toward humanitarian and reconstruction efforts in Gaza. The statement was made on his social media platform.

According to the announcement, board members are scheduled to meet in Washington to confirm these financial pledges and commit “thousands of personnel” to a stabilization force aimed at maintaining security in the region.

Trump emphasized a key condition, stating, “Very importantly, Hamas must uphold its commitment to Full and Immediate Demilitarization.” He referred to the Palestinian group, which is designated as a terrorist organization by the United States.

A draft charter reportedly indicated that a permanent seat on the board required a contribution of at least $1 billion from participating nations. The board was officially announced earlier this year alongside political allies from several countries, including the leaders of Argentina and Hungary. Representatives from nations such as Bahrain, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates were also present at the launch.

The Italian Prime Minister has indicated she is likely to join the upcoming Washington meeting as an observer.

The Board of Peace was a central part of a 20-point plan that helped broker a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas. The conflict began after militants attacked southern Israel, leading to an Israeli military operation in Gaza.
